It’s been one year and three months since I made the best-buzzed purchase I’ve ever made. I was at my brother-in-law’s repass when a friend and my niece sparked up a conversation about how great the Peloton bike was. Although I’ve been an avid boardwalk runner and gym attendee for years, I made the purchase that night when I got home, having never done a spin class before. I think it was the “zero down” and “zero Interest” that sealed the deal and helped me to justify such a big purchase. Through Affirm, I pay once a month, until the bike is paid off and then I’ll have just the subscription payment which I think will be $39.99 a month.
I think of it as a gym membership. With the membership, you get live and on-demand spin classes, running, strength, yoga, meditation, stretching, Bootcamp, walking, and cardio classes. I have the app on my phone and I often stream classes onto my smart tv. The other bonus is that you can have five other profiles, so my husband and four kids can take part, as well. You have to give yourself a profile name. Mine is #yeswayrose’ because yes I do ride for that guilt-free glass of wine or 2.
Like most of us, I’ve always been very critical of my weight and my body. Having always referred to my thighs as “thunder thighs”, I thought spinning might be just what my legs needed! Fast forward a year, and I think my body has changed. I say “I think” because I am not one to get on a scale or one to take body measurements. What I do know, is that my clothes feel better, my friends have given me compliments, and a few have even purchased the bike themselves. A few friends have been kind enough to use my referral code (R9E6TN) which translates to $100 for each of us both to spend in the Peloton Boutique. Nothing is cheap, but I have loved every purchase I’ve been gifted to make. Sidenote…I get nothing from Peloton for writing this.
Sometimes I am asked what keeps me motivated. I think what motivates me to ride most days, is that it sits in my bedroom and there’s no avoiding it lol. Throwing on shorts, socks, and a sports bra, I’m ready to go. Water, sweat towel, and tissues are my other musts. What really makes it different though, for me, is the instructors. They are incredibly motivating. I have my favorites, but there isn’t one that I don’t like. They are not only helping me to reshape my body, but also my mind. With motivational quotes like, “I AM I CAN I WILL I DO” by Christine “DECIDE HOW BAD YOU WANT IT; PROCEED ACCORDINGLY” by Robin, and “GET YOUR LIFE TOGETHER BOO” by the one and only Cody!
I hope you are now inspired to go crush your workout and BELIEVE that exercise can do so much more than change your body, it has the power to change your mind!
If you’re lucky enough, you will get a “Shout-Out” on any milestone ride!
